Getting Started & Onboarding
Welcome to Workable. This guide takes you from account creation through to a usable workspace, so you can move from setup into planning with as little friction as possible.
About Projects
Depending on the Plan type, such as Project, Agile, or Shape Up, these may have different names in your plans such as Epics, Bets, or Tasks. For simplicity, they are referred to as Projects in this guide.
1. Create Your Account
Section titled “1. Create Your Account”Start on the Sign Up page. Workable asks for your email address, your first and last name, and an organisation name. The organisation name can be your team or company name, or you can leave it blank if you want to start with a personal account.
Your email address becomes your main identifier in the product, and your name is used for your personal profile.
2. Verify Your Email
Section titled “2. Verify Your Email”After you click Create account, Workable sends a verification link to your email address.
Open the email from Workable and click the verification link. The link stays valid for 15 minutes. If it expires, return to the sign up page and request a new one.
3. Sign In
Section titled “3. Sign In”Once your email is verified, you can sign in from the Sign In page with your email address. Workable uses magic links instead of passwords, so the sign-in flow stays simple without storing a password in the app.
If you belong to multiple organisations, Workable takes you to an organisation selector after sign-in so you can choose where to work. You can switch organisations later from the organisation switcher in the navigation menu.
See Multi-Organisation Membership for more detail.
4. Your 14-Day Free Trial
Section titled “4. Your 14-Day Free Trial”Workable uses a Stripe-managed trial for new organisations.
Your trial starts after you:
- Create your account and organisation
- Verify your email address
Once your email is verified, Workable creates the Stripe customer and, if eligible, starts a 14-day free trial for your organisation with access to premium subscription features, including:
- Public holiday exclusions for location-based scheduling
- Advanced scheduling capabilities
- All future premium features
You can check your trial status and remaining days in Settings ➔ Subscription.
4.1. Upgrade From Trial to Paid
Section titled “4.1. Upgrade From Trial to Paid”If you want to move to a paid plan before the trial ends, open Settings ➔ Subscription, review the available plans, and click Subscribe now on the one you want. Stripe Checkout will guide you through payment, and when Stripe confirms it, Workable switches the organisation from trial to paid access automatically.
Only the current Billing Manager can manage billing or upgrade from trial to a paid plan.
4.2. When the Trial Ends
Section titled “4.2. When the Trial Ends”If you do not upgrade before the trial ends, the Stripe trial subscription ends and premium subscription features are no longer available. You can still return to Settings ➔ Subscription later and buy a paid plan.
If you upgrade during the trial, the paid subscription replaces the trial access immediately.
5. Initial Setup
Section titled “5. Initial Setup”After your first login, the next job is to describe your organisation so the scheduler has real data to work with.
For small teams, the fastest path is usually to add people manually, assign their skills, and create any teams you want for organisation.
For larger teams, CSV import is usually the quickest way to get started.

6. Access and Membership
Section titled “6. Access and Membership”Once your workspace is set up, the next settings topics are usually:
