About Resources

Resources are the people that can be assigned to tasks in a plan, and allocated in a schedule.

When starting in a new Workable account, it’s best to set up Skills and People first to enable the next step of setting up a Plan. You can add them manually, or bulk import.

There are four Resource sections:

  1. Assignment analysis: Workable can generate a Resource utilisation report across all plans. Use this once you have setup Resources and Plans.
  2. People: Details about each person that can be assigned to a schedule in a plan. Actual assignments will be based on their skills and availability.
  3. Skills: describe what your people can do, such as “Software Developer”, “Graphic Designer”, or “Project Manager”. The scheduler uses these skill records to decide who can be assigned in schedules.
  4. Teams: help you reflect your organisation structure inside Workable. They are useful for visibility, filtering, and quickly adding multiple people as a plan requirement. Note that though the scheduler makes its decisions primarily from individual people skills and availability.
  5. Scheduled holidays: in addition to Public Holidays, you can add individual time away days so Workable knows when a specific person should not be scheduled.
