Resource Heatmap

The Resource Allocation tab shows a heatmap of your team’s utilisation over time. Use it to see where you are overloaded, where you have spare capacity, and which people are becoming bottlenecks.

  • Blue: Fully allocated at capacity
  • Grey: Has available capacity
  • Orange/Red: Over-allocated

Each row shows one person’s allocation across the plan periods. Click any colored cell to see which projects that person is working on and what percentage of their capacity is in use.

Look for these patterns:

  • People with consistent blue cells: likely bottleneck resources
  • People with frequent grey cells: available capacity
  • People with orange or red cells: scheduling conflicts

Those patterns help you decide whether you need to hire, cross-train, change project requirements, or relax constraints in the plan.

An ideal schedule spreads work without consistently overloading the same people:

  • Most people should be fully utilised but not overworked
  • Some grey cells are acceptable for flexibility
  • Orange and red cells should be rare

If utilisation is highly uneven, adjust project requirements, review team and pinned assignments, or consider hiring and cross-training decisions.
